Jeremy Neidick

Jeremy Neidick is a postgraduate student at QUT whose PhD is centred on a combination of Korean cultural studies, applied theatre and dance, which intersected in the Motherboard Productions theatre piece, Deluge: 물의기억.

Neideck has had a long association with Korea, thanks to his involvement with the Australian-Korean International Cultural Exchange (AKICE). The creative practice for his PhD, Deluge: 물의기억 focused on the destructive cycles of nature, in particular the floods and droughts Australia experiences. The work uses symbols of Korean culture to draw together these two countries and make the creative experience transcultural.

Originally Neideck started studying in the Drama faculty at QUT, where he began to focus more deeply on drama and music and arguable this is where foundational blocks of what would be Neideck’s transcultural PhD formed.
