Shannon’s current studies are centred on studio practice where she has gained invaluable skills in fashion design and design thinking, pattern making, garment construction as well as textile knowledge and techniques. She also studies today’s fashion industry, history and sustainable practices, which are complemented by the acquisition of practical skills in business. Last semester was completed on exchange in Berlin, Germany. Being immersed in a new and exciting culture provided Shannon with an endless source of design inspiration and opened her mind to an array of new possibilities and perspectives that could be implemented throughout her work. She has recently interned with designer Grace Lillian Lee to assist her with putting together Jana Jaral, a fashion performance to close the annual Cairns Indigenous Art Fair. This proved to be a hugely inspiring and enriching experience. Most recently Shannon was named among the top 50 international finalists of the Arts of Fashion Competition and as a result was invited to showcase her work in San Francisco.
