My personal interest in architecture is the challenge and opportunity to develop buildings that are inherently ‘belonging’ to Queensland in their design and application. Our lifestyle, culture and climate provide opportunities that are not well realised in many new projects in our built environment, which is an issue I wish to address in my career. Further, I fundamentally believe in the intrinsic social and cultural value of our existing built fabric, which I see as a central consideration in the ongoing progress of our urban and suburban environments as they continue to develop, densify and expand. These are issues I have explored in my Masters and Honours studies, and wish to continue to explore in practice.
